What is the CVV2 or CVC2?
The CVV2/CVC2 is a three-digit security code, printed on the back of the cards. The code appears at the end of the card number (see sample).



Why the CVV2 or CVC2 security code?
The CVV2 or CVC2 security code is printed on the card. It is not part of the magnetic stripe on the card. So it will not be printed on receipts, it will not be read by a point-of-sale (POS) terminal.

This will help to reduce fraud in the card-not-present environment.
